A Bit About Me

Everybody has their "libertarian story," and mine began around 2002-2003 when I was an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin. In the aftermath of 9/11, I was heavily involved in the anti-war movement at UT, and a buddy of mine invited me to go to see Ron Paul speak at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Mind you, I had no idea who Ron Paul was or what a libertarian was at the time. All I knew was that I was fiercely opposed to war and that I didn't  really "fit" ideologically with my friends in the anti-war left.

I remember walking out of the building that night and excitedly saying to my friend, "I think I may be a libertarian." Bright-eyed and new to libertarianism. I subscribed to Ron Paul's Liberty Report. I read Hayek, Hazlitt, O'Rourke. I tried to find a way to get involved in the LP with no success -- and my enthusiasm fizzled for a while.

I spent a number of years after that buying into the wasted vote fallacy. I voted for Libertarians in down-ballot races, but I didn't really start finding my way back until Gary Johnson's 2016 presidential campaign. Fast-forward four more years, and I finally went "all in" with the Jorgensen/Cohen 2020 campaign. Since then, I've been full-throttle with LPTexas, and I haven't looked back.

It's been fun to share the experience with my family as well. My husband and two children have participated in sign waving, block walking, food drives, etc. My children recently turned 19, and I am hopeful that I have raised a new generation of engaged libertarians.

In addition to my volunteer work for LPTexas, I  am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and work as a Implementation Project Manager for a software company. I am a die hard fan of the Houston Astros, Texas Longhorn football and traveling/camping.
